A cancelled stamp was scanned at a very high resolution. Then a black strip was created using a black magic marker and the image was scanned again. Since black ink over black in the stamp is slightly darker than black ink over light areas in the stamp Lucis can bring out a lot of the detail that was hidden by the black mark.
