Windows Lucis Pro 6 Technical Support and FAQs

There are two kinds of dongles, the beige dongle that is designated Windows or Macintosh and the Universal black dongle. Lucis Pro 6 switched to the Universal black dongle in October 2009 just because it was easier. There are no functional differences between the Lucis Pro 6 software with the beige dongle or the black dongle. The latest software version for customers with the beige dongle is version 6.0.4. The latest software version for customers with the black dongle is 6.0.6 for Windows 64-bit software and Windows 6.0.5 for 32-bit software. To check your version of software in Photoshop please click on Help--> About Plug-ins -> Lucis Pro 6.
If you have a Windows 7 computer and the beige Windows dongle then you need to update the dongle driver or Lucis Pro 6 will not work. Just make sure the dongle is not installed, run the install.exe software at the below web page and follow the instructions. You install this driver before installing Lucis Pro 6. There is no update required for the black Universal dongle.

If you have the black dongle and run into a problem with your 64-bit Windows Lucis Pro 6 please click here for an software patch. We found one error that only affects less than 1% of customers. This software patch will update your Windows 64-bit Lucis Pro 6.0.5 to Lucis Pro 6.0.6 only.
Windows Installation Note: If Lucis Pro 6 is installed and you wish to add it to another version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elemenst use Add/Remove programs to uninstall Lucis. Then install Lucis to all the Photoshop and Elements programs.
Installation for 32-bit Windows Computers: Lucis Pro 6.0 has an automatic installation process. Just insert the DVD and follow the instructions on the screen. Lucis Pro 6.0 may be installed in Photoshop CS3-CS5 and Photoshop Elements 6-10. If the version of Photoshop you wish to install Lucis Pro into does not appear as a choice please select "Other" and then navigate to the filters folder which is under the Plug-ins folder in Photoshop.
Installation for 64-bit Windows computers: When you install Lucis Pro 6 on a 64-bit Windows computer you can run both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Photoshop. Lucis Pro 6 must match the version of Photoshop. So you have to be sure to install the 32-bit version into 32-bit versions of Photoshop (CS3, CS4, CS5) and install the 64-bit version into 64-bit versions of Photoshop (CS4x64 and CS5x64.)
The Lucis Pro 6 DVD includes the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows software. So the DVD has setup32.exe and setup64.exe. The installer will assume that you wish to install the 64-bit version if it sees a Windows 64-bit computer so it will run setup64.exe. To install the 32-bit version of Lucis Pro 6 into 32-bit versions of Photoshop stop the installation and navigate to and double click on setup32.exe on the Lucis Pro DVD. If during installation Photoshop CS5 does not show up as an option then select "other" and navigate to the filters folder which is under the Plug-ins folder in the 32-bit Photoshop CS5.
IMPORTANT- Please install 32-bit versions of Lucis Pro 6 first, then 64-bit versions.
Adobe Software Compatibility: The Windows Lucis Pro 6.0 requires either Adobe Photoshop CS3-CS5 or Photoshop Elements 6-10. It will not work with earlier versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Please see System Requirements for more information.
IMPORTANT- MEMORY MANAGEMENT: Lucis Pro requires a lot of RAM. As you use Photoshop the RAM Photoshop accesses becomes fragmented. So if you have been using Lucis Pro on images less than 250 MB in size with no problem and then at some point get a “need to tile message” it means the RAM is fragmented. To defrag the RAM select Edit | Purge | All. Or you can restart Photoshop.
For sales on or before March 4, 2009, a 32-bit software patch is available (click here). This software patch will upgrade your 32-bit Windows Lucis Pro 6.0 to version 6.0.4, which adds memory tiling. Anyone who bought Lucis Pro on or before March 4, 2009, and has not changed to the black Universal dongle needs this patch. Lucis Pro 6 DVDs sold before March 4, 2009, only have the Windows 32-bit software on them. If you need the 64-bit Windows version of Lucis Pro 6.0 then you need a new DVD so please send an e-mail to bwilliams@imagecontent.com. It is best to wait until you actually need the 64-bit version as only one complimentary DVD will be sent out per order.
