Lucis Pro 6 does everything LucisArt 2 did and much more

ICT software products are based on a patented algorithm called Differential Hysteresis Processing (trade name Lucis). Lucis is an easy and accurate method to view your image’s content in a variety of ways. Lucis Pro 6 is an Adobe Photoshop plug-in that implements the full Lucis algorithm. LucisArt 2 is an Adobe Photoshop plug-in developed from a handful of Lucis Pro 6 presets.

Another important difference: Lucis Art 2 works in Single Channel Mode only. That means it processes the entire image in one shot. Lucis Pro 6 has Single Channel Mode and Split Channel Mode. With Split Channel Mode you can select and alter the intensity information in each color channel separately. This gives you incredible control over contrasts and amazing creative flexibility. Lucis Pro 6 also has an Assign Original Image Color slider so you can remove all or a percentage of the color shifts resulting from Lucis processing in Single Channel Mode or Split Channel Mode.

Lucis Pro 6.0 is a thousand times more powerful and flexible than LucisArt 2 and it is just as easy to use.

Please note that LucisArt 2 effects can only be exactly replicated for 8-bit images as processing 8-bit images was a limitation of LucisArt 2.

How to replicate the LucisArt 2 special effects Exposure and Whyeth using Lucis Pro 6.0

The LucisArt 2 special effects Exposure and Whyeth were just presets chosen from the 128 possible Enhance Detail slider settings- 7 presets for Exposure and 5 presets for Whyeth. It is much easier to enhance detail with Lucis Pro. Just move the Enhance Detail slider to the left until you see the level of detail you wish to see (slider control highlighted in red). Lucis Pro has 125 Enhance Detail Slider settings for an 8-bit image and 16,000 settings for a 16-bit image.

How to replicate the LucisArt 2 special effect Winslow using Lucis Pro 6.0

The Winslow slider in LucisArt 2 is the Smooth Detail slider in Lucis Pro 6.0. Just move the Smooth Detail slider to the right and achieve the same effect. The Winslow slider and the Smooth Detail slider are both able to be altered in increments of 2 intensity levels. Plus of course Lucis Pro enhances 16-bit images, which is the equivalent of 16,000 Smooth Detail slider settings (Photoshop handles 16-bit images as 15-bit images).

How to replicate the LucisArt 2 special effect Sculpture using Lucis Pro 6.0

In order to replicate the Sculpture special effect with Lucis Pro you must first move the Enhance Detail slider to the left to the setting shown in the table below, then check “Tie Together.” Tie Together keeps the difference between the two slider values constant. So as you move one slider the other slider moves too. With Lucis Pro you can have many slider value differences, not just 4. Just uncheck Tie Together when you wish to change the difference between the two sliders.

How to replicate the LucisArt 2 special effect Plaid using Lucis Pro 6.0

During Lucis processing Lucis compares each pixel to every other pixel along hundreds of radial lines called scan lines. In Lucis Pro you can alter the number of scan lines in multiples of 16 (called Scan Lines). If the number of Scan Lines is too low, then radial line artifacts can occur. However increasing the number of Scan Lines increases processing time. In LucisArt 2 the number of Scan Lines is equal to 16, which was the most computers could handle in a reasonable amount of time when LucisArt 2 was developed. Therefore radial line artifacts can sometimes occur when an image is drastically enhanced, such as being smoothed a great deal with Winslow or with some extreme settings in Sculpture. Note that the number of Scan Lines in Lucis Pro 6 can be set up to 99 to eliminate radial line artifacts should they occur.

Plaid is basically Sculpture with some radial artifacts caused by drastically lowering the number of Scan Lines.

In order to replicate the Plaid special effects with Lucis Pro you must 1) change the Preview Scan Lines and Processing Scan Lines to 1 for Plaid 1, to 2 for Plaid 2, and to 3 for Plaid 3; 2) move the Enhance Detail slider to the left to the setting shown in the table below; and 3) check Tie Together. Tie Together keeps the difference between the two slider values constant. So as you move one slider the other slider moves too. Just uncheck Tie Together when you wish to change the difference between the two sliders.
